Replacing Pride with Peace

Thanks for joining me!

I know what this looks like… another fitness, life coach who has figured it all out and wants to overload her wisdom onto you.  “YOU CAN DO IT ALL!!! JUST WORK HARDER!!!”   If that is what brought you here, I am sorry to disappoint, but it is not what you will find.

Instead you are going to find yourself on a Journey that I am currently walking to find that girl who used to breathe deeper, speak slower, dream bigger and love others intentionally.

At the age of 36 I found myself at the peak of success, literally on a stage speaking to hundreds of people about how I mastered “doing it all”.  I was a full time bank manager for a team of 14, business owner of a local athletic training facility, Christian, wife and mother of 3 who dropped a bunch of pounds and became a health and fitness enthusiast and eternal optimist.  No one could believe in YOU more than ME!  Our business grew because of this environment we created and before long we were training athletes as well as Adults.  People wanted what we had.   After 5 years of working with Adults to reach their health and fitness goals what I have discovered is that people WANT results but what they actually DESIRE is a feeling.  People need an outlet to release their troubles and stresses.  People need a place where they feel they belong.  People need an environment of support and connection.  What people needed WE HAD and I loved being part of it.

What is underlying in this story of success that no one knew was that I had an addiction.  I was addicted to being a people pleaser and addicted to work.  I put myself in the role of being personally responsible for the health and happiness of everyone around me.  I was going to bed in my workout clothes for the morning, rushing my kids off to school and taking naps during my lunch breaks at work.  I was sooooo incredibly “efficient”, “responsible” and “productive”.  This created more success and celebration of who I was becoming and what I could offer to people.  On the outside looking in, I had it all figured out! This is one of the most dangerous types of addiction you will find for two reasons… 1. Pride plays a huge role and is one of the 7 deadly sins.  2. No one recognizes your deterioration because they celebrate you every step of the way!  “You’re such a hard worker!!!” “You do so much!”  “You’re always there for me!”  It looks like sunshine and rainbows until you crash.  Crash like a train wreck with everyone standing by to watch all of your moving parts go flying!  I am thankful to say that God interjected before my crash happened and He has been speaking into my heart.

So that is where you will find me now. I am thankful you are here and I’m feeling incredibly vulnerable… because God forbid you don’t like what I have to say!  But I am committed to breaking through my need to please and just put myself out there… for better or worse. Together we will go on this Journey to put focus back where it belongs, to find our place in this world, to live a more purposeful life and forever be moving toward the direction of peace instead of pride.
